Last tastings of the "Club de Catas"

Thursday, 24 / February / 2022

LomejordelvinodeRioja Tasting Club has closed its fifteenth edition in December 2021 with a tasting, at least unique, in which it has had Abel Mendoza, Roberto Oliván (Tentenublo) and Fernando Sáenz Duarte (Obrador Grate-Dellasera), as protagonists.

Rivercap continues its collaboration with these tastings that year after year show the enormous diversity of Rioja. This latest edition began with Mitarte de Labastida (Rioja Alavesa) and the municipal and parcel wines of this family winery. Ignacio Gil Oribe, from San Vicente de la Sonsierra, continued, an example that the 'terroir' does not understand administrative lines; Mercedes García Rupérez de Montecillo opened the doors of the third oldest winery in Rioja and Emma Villajos presented the new phase of Valdelacierva. Rioja Orienta was also represented in this case by Casa La Rad de Ausejo through its winemakers Goyo Gordaliza and Marta Gallego.

After the summer, it was the turn of Javier San Pedro de Vallobera (Laguardia). The tome

the witness Carlos Sánchez 'tracker' of vineyards, who came from Gredos and has settled in Rioja with this personal project. Janire Moraza de San Vicente presented a collection of whites and reds that did not leave anyone indifferent: taste is in the variety. Bagordi, in La Rioja Navarra (Andosilla), one of the pioneers of organic viticulture. Ander Cárcar, the new generation, and the young winemaker Basilio Berisa made it clear that –despite the difficulties of selling Rioja in Pamplona and Navarra in Logroño– they are not giving up their terroir.

2022 will surely bring us new and different interesting proposals to discover and enjoy.
